- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and sour cream to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.
- Pour half the batter into a prepared baking pan, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, then top with the remaining batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of nuts or raisins.
- This cake can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
