Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups apple cider (fresh or store-bought)
- 1 bottle red or white wine (Merlot, Cabernet, or Pinot Grigio)
- ½ cup brandy, bourbon, or spiced rum
- 1 Honeycrisp apple, sliced
- 1 Granny Smith apple, sliced
- 1 pear, sliced
- ½ cup fresh cranberries
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cloves
- 1 star anise (optional)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup club soda, ginger beer, or sparkling water (optional, for fizz)
Instructions
- Prepare the fruit – Slice apples, pears, and oranges. Add them to a large pitcher.
- Add spices – Toss in cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise for depth.
- Pour in liquids – Add apple cider, wine, and liquor (if using). Stir well.
- Sweeten to taste – Mix in maple syrup or honey for added sweetness.
- Let it infuse – Refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight for best flavor).
- Serve & garnish – Pour into glasses, top with club soda for fizz, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange slice.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with sparkling cider or pomegranate juice.
- For a warm version, heat the sangria on low (do not boil) and serve like mulled wine.
- Can be made ahead – Best when chilled overnight for deeper flavors.
