- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in the boiling water until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting.
- For an extra chocolate flavor, add chocolate chips to the batter.
