Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  5. Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently.
  7. Roll out the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
  8. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm with butter or jam.

Notes

  • For a sweeter biscuit, add a bit more sugar to the dough.
  • These can be made with frozen blueberries if fresh are not available.
