Ingredients

  • 2 large onions
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Slice the onions into thick rings and carefully separate them.
  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs.
  5. Place the mozzarella cheese inside some of the rings and top with another ring to seal the cheese in.
  6. Fry the rings in the hot oil until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add Italian seasoning to the breadcrumbs.
  • Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
