- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in the molasses, egg, and vanilla.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are firm.
- Let cool on a wire rack before decorating.
