- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup dulce de leche
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.
- Slowly pour in the boiling water and stir until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, spread dulce de leche between the cake layers and over the top of the cake.
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality cocoa powder.
- This cake can be decorated with chocolate shavings for an extra touch.
