  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then carefully mix in the boiling water.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool completely before removing them from the pans.
  7. For the frosting, beat together the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  8. Frost between the layers and on top of the cooled cakes.
