Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup baking soda
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir in the yeast and let it sit until frothy.
- Add flour and salt, and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let it rise for 1 hour, covered, in a warm place.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large pot, boil water and baking soda.
- Divide the dough into pieces and shape them into sticks.
- Boil each stick for 30 seconds and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush with melted butter and mix sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle on top.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Try adding different toppings for variety!
- Serve warm for the best taste.
