- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the risen dough into small pieces and roll them into sticks.
- Boil water with baking soda in a large pot. Briefly boil each pretzel stick for about 30 seconds.
- Place the boiled pretzel sticks on the baking sheet and brush with melted butter.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon together; sprinkle on top of the pretzel sticks.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- These pretzel sticks are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container.
- For an extra treat, consider adding chocolate dipping sauce.
