Classic Chicken Marsala: A Juicy Twist on a Timeless Favorite

Enjoy a delicious recipe for Classic Chicken Marsala, featuring tender chicken breasts simmered in a rich Marsala wine sauce with mushrooms.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Marsala wine
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then dredge them in flour.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the mushrooms and garlic. Cook until the mushrooms are soft.
  4. Pour in the Marsala wine and chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in the butter, and serve.

Notes

  • Pair the Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes or pasta for a complete meal.
  • For added flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like parsley or thyme.
