- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
- Mix in the oats, chocolate chips, and nuts.
- Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cookies are golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
- For chewier cookies, substitute some of the granulated sugar with more brown sugar.
- Add coconut flakes for an extra layer of flavor.
- Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
