Crinkly Crackly Butter Toffee Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup light brown sugar
– 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
– 1 tbsp vanilla extract
– 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 tsp baking soda
– 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 3/4 cup toffee bits
– Optional: extra sugar for rolling, flaky salt for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets.
2. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
3. Beat in egg, yolk, and vanilla.
4. Whisk flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
5. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
6. Fold in toffee bits.
7. Scoop dough, roll in sugar if desired.
8. Place on baking sheet, flatten tops.
9. Bake for 9–11 minutes.
10. Cool on sheet 5 min, then transfer to rack.

Notes

– For extra crinkles, slightly underbake.
– Chill dough if baking in a warm kitchen.
– Sprinkle flaky salt for gourmet touch.
