- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 8 flour tortillas
- 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the chopped onion, garlic powder, and chili powder, cooking until the onion is tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese.
- Place about ¼ cup of the beef mixture onto each tortilla, fold in the sides, and roll tightly.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the chimichangas until golden brown on all sides.
- Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add diced jalapeños or bell peppers to the filling.
- Pair with salsa or sour cream for dipping.
