Instructions

  2. Add milk gradually, whisking until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  4. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, then slowly add a bit of the hot mixture to temper the yolks.
  5. Return the yolk mixture to the saucepan and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
  7. Pour filling into the pre-baked pie crust and let it cool. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  8. Top with whipped cream before serving.
