- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pre-baked pie crust
- whipped cream for topping
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat.
- Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth, then cook until thickened.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and temper with a bit of the hot mixture before adding back to the pan.
- Stir in butter and vanilla, then pour into the pre-baked pie crust.
- Chill the pie in the refrigerator until set.
- Serve topped with whipped cream.
