- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 slices bread
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture on two slices of bread, layer with sliced strawberries, and top with the other slices of bread to create sandwiches.
- In a shallow dish, place the flour. In another dish, beat the eggs. In a third dish, place the breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each sandwich in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm, optionally dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
- For an extra kick, consider adding a splash of lemon juice to the cream cheese mixture.
- These sandwiches are best enjoyed fresh, but can be kept at room temperature for a few hours.
