- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
- Add warm water gradually and knead until the dough is smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut into squares or triangles.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Fry the pieces of dough until they puff up and turn golden brown, about 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with honey or syrup.
Notes
- For a sweeter treat, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
- These can also be served as a dessert with ice cream.
