- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil, and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out the dough and press it into a deep dish pizza pan, covering the sides.
- Layer mozzarella cheese on the bottom, followed by the beef mixture, and top with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, consider adding red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
