Ingredients

  • 2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  3. Layer a sheet of phyllo dough in a greased baking pan and brush with butter.
  4. Repeat until you have 8 layers, then sprinkle a mixture of walnuts and pistachios.
  5. Add another 4 layers of phyllo, then another layer of nuts.
  6. Continue layering until ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of phyllo.
  7. Cut the baklava into diamond shapes.
  8. Bake for about 45 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. While baklava is baking, mix sugar, water, vanilla, and cinnamon in a saucepan and boil for 10 minutes.
  10. Pour syrup over the baklava once baked.
  11. Let it cool before serving.
