Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini preferred)
  • 1 lb sausage (Italian, smoked, or chicken), sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook pasta until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage slices and brown for 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium-low. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring often.
  5. Return sausage to the skillet and coat in the sauce. Simmer 2 more minutes.
  6. Add cooked pasta and toss to combine. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Remove from heat. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Notes

  • Reserve some pasta water to loosen the sauce if needed.
  • Use tamari for a gluten-free version.
  • Add steamed broccoli or spinach for extra nutrition.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
