Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the key lime juice and vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before serving, and frost if desired.
