- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Add flour, butter, eggs, lemon zest, lemon juice, and salt to the yeast mixture; knead until smooth.
- Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
- Spread with butter, sprinkle with sugar and lemon zest, then roll tightly.
- Slice the roll into pieces and place in a baking dish.
- Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden, about 25 minutes.
- Let cool and drizzle with lemon glaze before serving.
Notes
- For a creamier glaze, add cream cheese to the icing.
- These rolls can be made ahead and frozen.
