  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Add flour, butter, eggs, lemon zest, lemon juice, and salt to the yeast mixture; knead until smooth.
  3. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle.
  5. Spread with butter, sprinkle with sugar and lemon zest, then roll tightly.
  6. Slice the roll into pieces and place in a baking dish.
  7. Let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden, about 25 minutes.
  9. Let cool and drizzle with lemon glaze before serving.

  • For a creamier glaze, add cream cheese to the icing.
