- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the molasses and eggs, and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the molasses mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Form the dough into small balls and roll them in granulated sugar.
- Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are firm.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a spicier cookie, increase the amount of ginger and cinnamon.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
