  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit until frothy.
  2. Add flour and kosher salt to the yeast mixture, mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Divide the dough into pieces, flatten each, and place a piece of mozzarella in the center, folding the dough over the cheese.
  7. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda.
  8. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds before placing on a baking sheet.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
