Spritz cookies are buttery, crisp, and delicately sweet. Made with a cookie press, they feature intricate shapes perfect for holiday baking. This classic recipe requires no chilling and is quick to make!

  • Total Time: 25 min
  • Yield: 4 dozen 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 2 ⅓ cups (291g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Optional: food coloring, sprinkles, melted chocolate for decoration

Instructions

  • In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy (about 2 minutes).
  • Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix until combined.
  • Gradually mix in flour and salt on low speed until a soft dough forms.
  • Load dough into a cookie press, choose a disc, and press onto the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 7–9 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Decorate as desired with chocolate, sprinkles, or sanding sugar.

Notes

  • Dough too soft? Chill for 10–15 minutes.
