- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract (optional)
- 2 ⅓ cups (291g) all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp salt
- Optional: food coloring, sprinkles, melted chocolate for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line baking sheets with silicone mats or use ungreased metal sheets.
- In a bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy (about 2 minutes).
- Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix until combined.
- Gradually mix in flour and salt on low speed until a soft dough forms.
- Load dough into a cookie press, choose a disc, and press onto the baking sheet.
- Bake for 7–9 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
- Decorate as desired with chocolate, sprinkles, or sanding sugar.
Notes
- Dough too soft? Chill for 10–15 minutes.
- No cookie press? Use a piping bag with a star tip.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
