  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine chopped okra, turkey bacon, cornmeal, flour, beaten egg, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
  5. Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more cayenne pepper.
