Ingredients

- 2 cups chopped okra
- 1/2 cup turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine chopped okra, turkey bacon, cornmeal, flour, beaten egg, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Scoop spoonfuls of the mixture into the hot oil, flattening slightly.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add more cayenne pepper.
- You can also bake the patties in the oven at 400°F for a healthier option.
