- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let them cool completely before frosting with a mixture of caramel sauce and cream cheese.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of sea salt on top of the frosting.
- These cupcakes can be made in advance and stored for a couple of days.
