Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh okra, sliced
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, soak the sliced okra in buttermilk for about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, mix cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and paprika in a separate dish.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
- Remove okra from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat in the cornmeal mixture.
- Fry the okra in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can double-coat the okra by repeating the buttermilk and cornmeal processes.
