Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Mix in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Fold in chopped pecans.
  9. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool before frosting.
  12. For frosting, make a caramel sauce and drizzle over the cooled cakes.
