A deliciously hearty and comforting dish that combines beef and turkey bacon for a unique twist on the traditional cottage pie.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and crumble it.
  3. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion, carrots, and garlic. Sauté until softened.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in the crumbled turkey bacon, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, paprika, and peas. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add some hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • Feel free to use leftovers in the filling for a quick meal.
