- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter until fluffy.
- Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Press two-thirds of the dough into a greased baking pan.
- In another bowl, beat together cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture, and stir until combined.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the dough in the pan.
- Crumb the remaining dough over the top of the cream cheese layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature ingredients.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
