Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Cut in the vegetable shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually stir in warm water until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll out each ball into a circle.
- Fry each circle in hot oil until golden brown and puffy. Drain on paper towels.
- In a skillet, cook ground beef with taco seasoning until fully cooked.
- Assemble the chalupas by placing beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and salsa on the fried shells.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding jalapeños to the toppings.
