Ingredients

  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water and sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture, olive oil, tomatoes, basil, and garlic.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Let it rise again for 30 minutes, then preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
