- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
- Fold in the coconut and pecans.
- Pour the batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Let cool and frost as desired.
