- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
- Pour half of the batter into a greased cake pan.
- Spread half of the caramel sauce over the batter and sprinkle with pecans.
- Pour the remaining batter over the caramel and pecans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool before drizzling with remaining caramel sauce.
Notes
- For an extra chocolatey flavor, add chocolate chips to the batter.
- Serve with whipped cream for a delightful touch.
