- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sheet pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and water together, then bring to a boil. Pour over the dry ingredients.
- Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Fold in chocolate chips and pecans before pouring the batter into the sheet pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Once cooled, drizzle with caramel sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, toast the pecans before adding them to the batter.
- This cake can also be customized with different nuts or toppings.
