- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat.
- Whisk until the mixture is smooth and starts to thicken.
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add a bit of the hot mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly.
- Pour the egg yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then fold it into the custard mixture.
- Pour the custard into a square dish and refrigerate until set.
