- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup diced apples
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Fill each donut cavity in the pan about 3/4 full with the batter.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, oats, and nutmeg for the crumb topping.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping over the donuts before baking.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- For an extra boost of flavor, add chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
- Feel free to use any type of apple you prefer.
