- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the caramel icing, melt brown sugar and butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in heavy cream.
- Let it boil for a minute, then remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Once the cake is cooled, pour the icing over the cake.
Notes
- Make sure the butter is at room temperature for better mixing.
- You can substitute buttermilk with yogurt or milk if needed.
