Chocolate-dipped pretzels

Chocolate Covered Pretzels

A sweet and salty treat made with crunchy pretzels dipped in smooth melted chocolate and topped with creative toppings.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes (including cooling time)
  • Yield: 24 chocolate-covered pretzels 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 pretzels (mini, rods, or traditional twists)
  • 8 ounces high-quality chocolate (milk, dark, or white)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)
  • Toppings of choice:
    • Sprinkles
    • Crushed nuts
    • Sea salt
    • Crushed candy canes
    • Caramel drizzle

Instructions

  • Melt the Chocolate
    • Microwave Method:
      • Chop chocolate into small pieces.
      • Heat in a microwave-safe bowl in 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
    • Double Boiler Method:
      • Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water (don’t let the bowl touch the water).
      • Stir until fully melted.
  • Dip the Pretzels
    • Using a fork or dipping tool, submerge each pretzel in melted chocolate.
    • Tap off excess chocolate against the bowl’s edge.
  • Add Toppings
    • Sprinkle toppings before the chocolate sets for the best adherence.
  • Cool and Set
    • Place dipped pretzels on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Let them set at room temperature or chill in the fridge for 15-20 minutes for a faster hardening process.

Notes

  • Best Chocolate: Use couverture chocolate or baking chocolate instead of chocolate chips for a smooth, glossy finish.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 weeks. Refrigerate for longer shelf life.
  • Custom Flavors: Add peppermint extract, cinnamon, or chili powder to melted chocolate for a unique twist.
