- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups crushed cookies (such as Oreos)
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract; mix on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water until smooth. Fold in crushed cookies.
- Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Layer one cake with frosting and top with another cake, then frost the top and sides.
- Garnish with additional crushed cookies.
Notes
- Chill the heavy cream for optimal whipping.
- For a richer flavor, you can substitute buttermilk for the whole milk.
