- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and minced garlic until browned.
- Layer half of the cabbage in the bottom of the crockpot.
- Add half of the cooked meat mixture on top of the cabbage.
- Layer half of the uncooked rice and half of the diced tomatoes.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cabbage, meat, rice, and tomatoes.
- Pour tomato sauce and beef broth over the top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the rice is tender and the cabbage is cooked through.
Notes
- For added flavor, try using a mix of ground beef and sausage.
- This dish can also be made with brown rice for a healthier option.
