- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 6 tart apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons butter, to dot
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until the mixture forms a ball.
- Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the dough and fit it into a pie pan.
- In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Pour the apple mixture into the crust and dot with butter.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the crust is golden.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter pie, add more brown sugar.
- Serve with ice cream for an extra treat.
