- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glazing)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt over medium heat until the butter melts.
- Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball, then remove from heat.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe the dough into donut shapes and fry until golden brown.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Mix powdered sugar and cinnamon, then dust over warm crullers.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding lemon zest to the dough.
