- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons chili flakes
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon onion, minced
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and rice vinegar. Heat over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Add chili flakes, garlic, and onion. Stir to combine and simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry. Add to the sauce and stir until it thickens.
- Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to a jar.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, adjust cornstarch to your desired consistency.
- This sauce pairs well with spring rolls, grilled meats, or as a dipping sauce.
