Ingredients
Scale
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and nutmeg.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
- Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Using a spoon, drop small balls of dough into the hot oil carefully, frying until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the dough to avoid soggy puff puffs.
- Feel free to adjust the sugar to your taste.
