- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine diced strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed.
- Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface and cut heart shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Place half of the heart cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Fill each heart with a spoonful of the strawberry mixture.
- Top with the remaining heart cutouts and seal the edges with a fork.
- Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before serving.
Notes
- These hand pies can be served warm or at room temperature.
- For a sweeter finish, dust with powdered sugar.
