- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large egg yolks
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 box vanilla wafers
- 1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened.
- In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks. Gradually add some of the hot mixture to the yolks, then return the mixture to the saucepan.
- Stir in the vanilla and continue cooking for 2 more minutes.
- Layer the vanilla wafers, banana slices, and pudding in a dish. Top with whipped cream.
- Chill for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
- For an extra touch, sprinkle with crushed vanilla wafers before serving.
